The end of 2023 will mark the 15th anniversary of the premiere of one of the most famous movies about vampires and werewolves of the century. ‘Twilight’ revolutionized an entire generation and garnered as much criticism as praise. Its main male leads were Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black), whose characters competed on screen and, apparently, this affected their relationship behind the scenes.
In the tapes, Edward was a teenage vampire and Jacob belonged to a pack of werewolves. Both were in love with the same girl, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), a fact that had them at odds in all five films. Now, Taylor Lautner has expressed his opinion about his experience in them and his friendship with Pattinson.
After describing the response of the unconditional fans of the saga about supporting one or the other as “very strange”, Lautner told the podcast ‘The Toast’: “Being in different cities having thousands of fans screaming about being on your side or on the other guy’s side.”
How was his relationship with Robert Pattinson
When the first film was released, Lautner was 16 years old, and by the end of the fifth and final film, he was already 19. “He was so young,” he exposed. Some facts that, perhaps, caused him and Robert Pattinson not to handle their relationship in the best way. “We were a team. We were both trying to make the best movies,” he said at first.
However, the actor revealed that the climate of tension during their performances was not the best: “It was a bit strange, the competitiveness. There was no competitiveness between me and Rob, but having that constant memory definitely had an impact.” Despite this, and after seeing the entire saga, Lautner confessed that he understood the fans. “While he was watching them he was like, ‘I get it. Jacob’s a little annoying.’ Like, I love Jacob and I love him, but he’s a little annoying,” he maintained.
